➔ Fragments of a Love Discourse by Roland Barthes is structured as an abecedarian collection analyzing the language of love. As graphic designers, our task was to reinterpret each fragment using typography as the sole signifier. This approach transforms the reading experience, amplifying the emotions and reflections Barthes explores. Fragments were divided among the class for individual interpretation. For my contribution, I went beyond layout constraints to give the book a new dimension. I emphasized the nuances of love while connecting them to a contemporary context. I used the typographic shape of a heart, aligning with the fully typographic nature of the work. The apparent absence of a title encourages curiosity: a faux-leather pink cover with gilded corners creates presence while inviting readers to interpret the content freely.
